NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (MNA) – The Israeli regime has increased restrictions on Palestinian access to occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds, denounced UN OCHA.

According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) communicating an announcement on Friday, in recent days the security forces of Tel Aviv blocked main roads leading to most of the Palestinian neighborhoods.

Until Wednesday, the occupants kept 38 obstacles, 17 checkpoints, 20 concrete structures and a mound of earth, it said.

According to OCHA, the new measures are part of the decision of the Israeli Security Cabinet on 14 October.

Access restrictions will directly impact 138,000 people, about 45 percent of the Palestinian population in East Jerusalem al-Quds, the OCHA lamented.

Another barrier affecting the flow of humans was raised in order to separate the neighborhood Jabal Mukkaber of a nearby Jewish settlement, called East Talpiyot.

Obstacles imposed by Israel are affecting access to health care, education and work, as well as sacred places, it warned.

Tel Aviv argues its shares on the escalation of violence in recent weeks in the West Bank, precisely attributable to their policies of colonization and provocations in the Old City of Jerusalem, particularly in the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque stage.

In an open debate of the Security Council, the Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki accused Israel regime yesterday to bring the conflict to the religious political arena.

He also denounced the attempt by the occupying regime to change the historical situation in East Jerusalem to impose a favorable status quo to their interest’s settlers.
