On the occasion of the World Food Day and the 70th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the leader thanked the food producers and forestry workers worldwide for their contribution to the improvement of global support, considering the global population has tripled since 1945.
Da Silva urged to work together to eradicate hunger and malnutrition through fair mechanisms of production and consumption.
Good nutrition is one of the best sources of economic growth and contributes to peace and stability, while social protection helps the hungry escape this scourge through its own efforts and thus a dignified and productive life, added Da Silva.
At the end, he invited the general public to celebrate World Food Day assuming personal commitments, including eating healthy, reduce food waste and help others.
