TEHRAN, Oct. 16 (MNA) – An Iranian official recounted the weight and value of Iran’s saffron export over the first half of Iranian calendar year.

Just Iranian northeastern city of Mashhad has exported 52,540 kg of saffron over the last six months, said Gholamreza Miri, the vice chairman of Iran’s National Council of Saffron, on Thursday.

The official added that statistics show a 9.5 percent decrease putting aside the numbers from the same period of last year.

"Mashhad is the origin of 90% of Iran’s total saffron export," added Miri saying that the aforementioned amount of saffron brought $75.23 million of revenues for Iranian producers.

Pointing to saffron export of Mashhad city in the last Iranian calendar month of Shahrivar, Miri lamented a 58% curb vis-à-vis the same month of the last year as this year’s number stood at 4.467 kg.
