The informed source told state media that the visit of the President of the European Union Parliament Martin Schulz and his accompanying delegation which was due Tuesday has been postponed to a later date by mutual agreement.
“The two sides are consulting through formal channels to set a new date for the visit,” said the source.
It had been announced last week that EU chief heading a parliamentary delegation would visit Iran to hold talks with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and a number of other senior officials of the Islamic Republic.
The aim of the visit is said to be in line with improving relations between the European Union and Iran.
Previously, a delegation from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament headed by Elmar Brok had visited Iran on 6-7 June, 2015.
