TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (MNA) – Iranian researcher Mehdi Molaei has synthesized ZnSn (Zinc Selenide) nanoparticles for optical and biological purposes.

Funded by Iran National Science Foundation (INSF), Dr. Mehdi Molaei, a faculty member at Vali-E-Asr University of Rafsanjan synthesized ZnSn (Zinc Selenide) nanoparticles and doped ZnSn nanoparticles in aqueous environment for optical and biological purposes.

A number of nanoparticles, including Zn compounds, have light emitting properties, and are widely used in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) or in wide range of medical areas, such as malignant tumors diagnosis or drug delivery.

In this study, light emitting ZnSn nanoparticles and copper and manganese doped ZnSn nanoparticles were synthesized using cutting edge microwave and ultraviolet radiation methods. Light emission within the visible spectrum and change in optical properties of nanoparticles through transition-metal doping were among the most significant results of the study.
