TEHRAN, Oct. 7 (MNA) – The Iranian short animation Cloudy Goats, directed by Hamid Karimian, will be screened at the non-competition section of the fifth Iranian Film Festival Australia (IFFA).

Hamid Karimian’s short animation will be screened in the Australian cities Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne from October 9 to November 2.

The five-minute animation, a combination of 3D and 2D techniques, is an adaptation of Iranian writer Afsaneh Shaban Nejhad’s book.

It is a production of the cinematic affairs of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) and has so far attended 13 international festivals grabbing several awards.

Originating in Queensland, the Iranian Film Festival Australia (IFFA) is the only nation-wide Australian festival dedicated to Iranian cinema and through the presentation of contemporary Iranian Cinema aims to introduce Iranian culture to other Australians, fostering greater cultural awareness.

The festival is committed to encouraging audiences comprising both Iranians and non-Iranians, and providing a platform for dialogue about Iranian culture through film screenings, educational workshops, audience engagement opportunities and other cultural activities.

The main award of the IFFA is the NETPAC Award for Best Film under the auspices of the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema while the other award, IFFA Pomegranate Audience Award, values the participating audience by allowing them to have their say by voting for their favorite film of the festival.

During the 2014 IFFA, Shahram Mokri’s Fish & Cat received the NETPAC award while the Audience Award Winner was I’m Not Angry directed by Reza Dormishian and Painting Pool directed by Maziar Miri.
