TEHRAN, Oct. 06 (MNA) – Iranian film 'Resurrection' by Ahmadreza Darvish won the first prize in the long fiction competition of Baghdad International Film Festival (BIFF) 2015.

The 7th edition of Baghdad International Film Festival (BIFF) announced its winners on Monday, among which was Ahmadreza Darvish’s feature film ‘Resurrection’ that garnered the festival’s first prize in the long fiction film competition.

Darvish while wishing for peace and prosperity for all countries in the world, dedicated his prize to the victims of the Mina tragedy of September 24 which claimed the lives of over 4,000 Hajj pilgrims, including 465 Iranians.

In this year’s edition of the BIFF, Iraq’s deputy minister of culture had officially invited Resurrection’'s filmmaker Darvish as well as producer Taghi Aligholizadeh so that the film would be screened during the opening ceremony of the festival.

The BIFF screening was Resurrection’'s first official screening in Iraq and the Arab world.

Resurrection features seven Arab actors from different countries including, Jamal Suliman from Syria, Dawood Hussein from Kuwait, Rezvan Aghili from Syria, Javad al-Shekarchi from Iraq, as well as Foad Ebrahim from Lebanon.

A religious-historical film which has been dubbed in different languages including English and Arabic, Darvish’s film production narrates the Battle of Karbala on Day of Ashura and tells the uprising of Imam Hussein in 680 CE against Yazid.

Resurrection film score was produced by oscar-winning composer Stephen Varbk in Moliner Music Studio in London.

The seventh Baghdad International Film Festival took place on October 1-5 in Baghdad, Iraq.
