UNITED NATIONS, Sep. 30 (MNA) – The United Nations warned yesterday about the growing threat of terrorism and revealed that the number of terrorist elements from more than 100 countries increased by 70 percent.

These groups are a direct threat to international security and subvert the universal values of peace, justice and human dignity, said UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The UN Secretary-General considered crucial the counter-terrorism measures and said that the first goal should be prevention.

He said that governments cannot succeed in this struggle by themselves, but must involve religious leaders, artists, musicians and athletes, young people and the media, among other members of society.

Ban Ki-moon announced the introduction of an action plan for the next year on the prevention of violent terrorism, which will include specific recommendations to UN member states about the individual and collective efforts to confront this evil actions at all levels.
