CHANGSHA, Sep. 25 (MNA) – In their third game at 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, Iranian basketball players pounded Malaysia 122-42.

Iran national basketball team took a comfort 122-42 victory over Malaysia in a one-sided Group A match at the 2015 FIBA Asia Championshiop at Social Work College's gymnasium of Chinses city of Changsha.  

Too strong for their opponents, Iranians set the tone early, outscoring Malaysia, 35-5, in the first quarter and the game was pretty much over at that point. As expected, the bigger and more experienced Iranians dominated proceedings in every possible way. Coach Dirk Bauermann’s wards were firmly in control both on defense and offense.

Six Iranians scored in double-figures, led by Mohammad Hassanzadeh’s 28 points. Fellow big man Asghar Kardoust also impressed with 24 points, while Sajjad Mashayekhi and Mahdi Kamrani tallied 14 and 15 points respectively.

In their opening match at the tournament, Iran defeated japan 86–48, with superirity in all four quarters.

The Asian powerhouse Iranians truimphed over India 66-88 in their second match of Group A.

The winner of the tournament qualifies for the basketball tournament on the 2016 Summer Olympics.
