TEHRAN, Sep. 23 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday expressed concern over the tragic humanitarian situation in Yemen and criticized the international community for being silent over the disaster in the Arab country.

In a phone conversation with Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, President Rouhani appreciated stance of the Omani government on regional cooperation and said Iran, in the post-sanctions era, is willing to consolidate relations with its neighbors, especially Oman, in various sectors, especially trade and commerce.

The Islamic Republic of Iran gives special priority to consolidation of cooperation with regional countries as Rouhani asserted.

Acknowledging the constructive role of Oman in the region, president highlighted the necessity of regional cooperation to resolve the regional crises saying that Tehran-Muscat regional cooperation is very effective to restore peace and stability in the region.

He underlined that the United Nations Security Council must stop Saudi air raids on the innocent people and infrastructures of Yemen.

Rouhani expressed hope that the Omani government, especially Sultan Qaboos and other peace loving states, would help establish ceasefire in Yemen on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha.

Sultan Qaboos, for his part, said Oman is hopeful to enhance level of cooperation with Iran during the post-sanctions era.

The Omani king emphasized continued consultations of the Omani government for establishment of peace and stability in Yemen and said that diplomacy is the best way to resolve the regional crises.

Pointing to the Saudi air raids on the residential and diplomatic areas in Yemen, the Omani Sultan said Muscat strongly condemns such attacks and wants immediate cessation of the raids.
