TEHRAN, Sep. 21 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Minister of Health Mahmoud Khodadoust acknowledged that Iran's traditional medicine is capable of being globalized.

He pointed to the documents which prove that Iran's traditional medicine has been used all over the world.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has adopted a strategy for 2014 to 2023 to publicize some parts of the traditional medicine, said the official.

According to the WHO website, the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014–2023 was developed and launched in response to the World Health Assembly resolution on traditional medicine.

The strategy aims at supporting member states in developing proactive policies and implementing action plans that will strengthen the role traditional medicine plays in keeping populations healthy.

Traditional medicine is the sum total of the knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures. It is used for the maintenance of health as well as in prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.
