Issues associated with trade, construction, agriculture, aquaculture, biotechnology, investments, communications and health, among others, were discussed in this meeting, which is part of the program for the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, on December 2, 1960.
Ta Thi Hong My, representative of the Ministry of Construction, stated that the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee will continue strengthening ties with a view to improving the efficiency of cooperation, especially in areas of economy, trade and investment.
Such purpose corresponds to the objectives adopted in the bilateral agenda at midterm, signed during the visit Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung carried out to Cuba in March 2014.
On the other hand, Vu Trung My, of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, after reviewing the history of these ties, stressed that finding so special ties as those existing between the Parties, governments, and peoples of both nations is not common in the contemporary world.
The member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, Santiago Perez Castellanos, also conveyed a similar message. He said "if an example of bilateral ties is sought, is with Vietnam, with which we have shared 55 years of uninterrupted ties."
Professor Nguyen Viet Thao said the renewal in Vietnam and the updating of the economic model in Cuba are mutually beneficial in the theoretical and practical aspects of building socialism.
One of the five Cubans who were held in US prisons for fighting terrorism and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Antonio Guerrero, was also a speaker in this seminar. He again thanked Vietnam and its people, not only the support to the battle for the release of the Cuban Five, but also "for having trained as resistant revolutionaries," after evoking moments of the struggle of this country in his childhood.
Also organized by the Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, among others, this seminar was preceded by the Seventh Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, attended here by 220 delegates from 18 countries.
