The delegation, which accompanied Austrian President Heinz Fischer in a visit to Tehran on Monday, visited the treasuries of the museum, the TMCA announced in a press release on Wednesday.
During the visit, Agnes Husslein, the Director of the Austrian National Gallery Belvedere in Vienna, a museum housed in the Belvedere Palace, said “Some three years ago, we were keen to expand ties with TMCA which was failed due to the sanctions. Hope that the new conditions will help us to hold mutual exhibitions.”
Moreover, Evelyn Benesch, the Deputy Director of the Bank Austria Kunstforum of Vienna, said that the center has always been interested in cooperating with the Iranian museum in holding joint expos, workshops and several other sessions.
The group also met the head of the museum Majid Mollanorozi who welcomed them and also bilateral cooperation saying “TMCA has always been fully prepared to cooperate with credible international art centers and institutes.”
“During the past few years, Iran’s contemporary art has been warmly welcomed by international museums and collectors. We have recently received several requests from other countries for holding exhibitions of Iran’s arts which we hope will be fulfilled.”
He also said that he follows the activities the Bank Austria Kunstforum of Vienna and its recent expo held on the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. He added that the financial institutes and banks play a vital role in expanding arts economy and promoting arts; a trend which kicked off in Iran a few years ago.
