On the sidelines of his trip to the town of Shahryar in the National Week of Government, Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri stated that, "Two million and 800 thousand books, five million publications, 38 thousand manuscripts, 34 million copies of stone-writings, and more than 100 million valuable documents dating back to 800 years ago exist in the National Library," asserting that this spiritual resource has turned this huge collection to a great spiritual heritage of Iran.
Salehi-Amiri further outlined the main priorities foreseen in the National Library of Iran and asserted that, “our main objective is to provide proper conditions to facilitate public access to documents and resources throughout the country.”
“Conducting fundamental research studies and development of relations with the world's libraries and strengthening interactions in this area are among other plans that we are strictly undertaking at the moment,” he added.
Head of Iran’s National Library noted that registration of manuscripts as part of Iran’s heritage and culture in UNESCO is yet another goal that will be implemented gradually.
Referring to the removal of cruel sanctions on book industry, the Presidential advisor stressed that, “resolving the nuclear and international disputes between Iran and the West will enhance our access to the resources outside the country; meanwhile, in such circumstances, we will achieve a better progress and development.”
