TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – Iran’s FM Zarif met with visiting South African Deputy FM Nomaindia Mfeketo and the high-ranking entourage.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif received the high-ranking political and economic delegation from South Africa headed by South African Deputy Foreign Minister Nomaindia Mfeketo on Sunday afternoon.

During the meeting Iranian foreign minister hailed the current status of relations between Iran and South Africa and speculated that South Africa can be a major trade partner for Iran.

Also Zarif voiced his concern over the spread of terrorism in Africa as a threat for the whole global community and deemed the fight against terrorism an area of joint effort of the two nations.

South African Deputy Foreign Minister Nomaindia Mfeketo for her part congratulated the nuclear deal between Iran and G5+1 and said South Africa remains Iran's friend "for ever and in all ups and downs."

She described her visit to Iran as very positive and expressed the hope that the achievements gained during her visit would help develop all-out relations between the two countries.

The South African delegation arrived in Tehran on Saturday to partake in the 6th meeting of Iran and South Africa Joint Political Commission.

Thembisile Majola, South Africa’s Deputy Energy Minister and deputy ministers of security and finance are among the members of the South African delegation.
