TEHRAN, Jul. 28 (MNA) – Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) robotic teams put on a remarkable display at 2015 RoboCup World Championships by claiming the first to third places.

The Rescue Simulation team from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) managed to triumph over all its opponents on Monday and claimed the championship title at 2015 RoboCup World Championships that took place in China.

The RoboCup Rescue Robot League is an international league of teams with the aim to develop and demonstrate advanced robotic capabilities for emergency responders.

Also on Monday, the AUT Humanoid Teen-size Robot team defeated the German team in the ranking match and stood at the third place. The Iranian team also managed to claim the second place at the technical competitions of the international event.

Soroush Sadeghnejad, leader of the AUT teams, said that this year the RoboCup matches were held at a high standard and all teams were fully prepared.

Noting that a number of participating teams were experiencing their first time at the RoboCup competitions, Sadeghnejad added, “this fact shows the serious determination of other countries to contribute to the development of technology and their special attention to fields of robotic, automation and artificial intelligence.”

“Iranian researchers are among the best in the robotic field and the remarkable consideration of universities, industry and government to this field has resulted in the development of robotic in the country and will ultimately lead to the formation of a structure based on knowledge-based economy,” he said.

In the 19th edition of RoboCup World Championships which was launched on July 17, more than 200 robotic teams from over 40 countries entered the competition.

Running for five days in the Chinese city of Hefei, RoboCup was split into five leagues: small size, middle size, humanoid, standard platform and soccer simulation. The AUT teams participated in Rescue Simulation, small size soccer and humanoid leagues.
