Hassan Rouhani who was addressing a national conference of Iranian NGOs working on health issues earlier today, said the industry was not an indicator of development in a country and added that, “real development and progress of a country cannot be measured by welfare of people; if the people of a country are concerned about the others and consider everyone in the nation like members of their own families, that country is developed.”
Emphasizing on necessity of charity and cooperation in society, Iranian president highlighted the government’s policy of increasing public involvement.
Underlining role of public opinion in nuclear negotiation and asserted that message of the deal clinched by Iran and the 5+1 in Vienna was beyond the articles of the Resolution 2231 or the JCPOA. “What your diplomats did in international arena is beyond such things,” Rouhani stated and added that “the message of the deal is to put violence, threat, bullying and sanction aside and that the era of win-lose deals is over and the main message is that most complicated international issues can be resolved through negotiation.”
Rouhani also stressed that the message of the deal was Iran’s way is way of moderation, way of ethics, logic, knowledge and courage.
President also admired Mohammad Javad Zarif and Ali Akbar Salehi as one of the few people with highest experience and knowledge in international politics and nuclear issues, respectively, and hailed their conduct of the negotiations.
“Their knowledge along with their courage, perseverance and braveness resulted in this great achievement. There have been tough times during nuclear talks when I asked them two times in one hour to leave the negotiation table in Lausanne and return to Tehran; or, for several times during negotiations in Geneva and Vienna in recent months we consulted and I asked them to leave the talks if they didn’t accept the agreement.”
Iranian president also emphasized on public support for negotiations and hailed the nation for its resistance against unjust sanctions; “in my addresses to the UN General Assembly in last two years, I clearly stated that their sanctions against Iran have been immoral, inhumane and against human rights.”
During the conference which was held in Tehran's Milad Tower conference hall, health-related NGOs awarded FM Zarif and Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi as representatives of the whole negotiation team.
