The UN Security Council on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing Iran's nuclear deal and paving the way for lifting longstanding sanctions on the Islamic Republic.
During the meeting, Khoshroo underlined that Iran's "resolve to fulfill its obligations" and that Tehran expects all other parties to the agreement meet their commitments. Khoshroo deemed it the only way diplomacy could "prevail over conflict and war in a world that is replete with violence, suffering and oppression."
Meanwhile, Khoshroo reacted to 'baseless accusations' by US Ambassador Samantha Power who had accused Iran of destabilizing the region and terrorism in her statement addressing the session.
Khoshroo slammed the United States for its 'feckless and reckless acts' by invading Iraq and Afghanistan which "created favorable ground for the growth of terrorism and extremism" and "are at the root of many challenges facing the unstable region."
Khoshroo stressed that "Iran is a stable country in an unstable region; as we want our stability to persist, we do promote cooperation in the region and help our neighbors to stabilize and cooperate towards this end."
