Iranian deputy Foreign Minister and senior negotiator Seyed Abbas Araghchi told the media on Monday that the negotiations between Iran and the six states has reached its last tough phases.
“Some really good progress has been achieved in the past two or three days, but some issues still remain unresolved,” said Araghchi.
He stressed that unless these issues are settled, one cannot say an agreement has been reached.
“I cannot promise the issues will be resolved by tonight (Monday) or tomorrow night,” Araghchi further told the media.
Representatives from Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have been holding intensive talks at the Palais Coburg in Vienna for over two weeks to hammer out a final deal.
Both sides have cited progress in the talks over a number of sticking points and are trying to iron out the remaining disagreements.
Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi after a short meeting with the IAEA chief on Sunday said that the technical negotiations had come to a conclusion.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters on Monday that new progress has been made in the talks during the last few days, adding “I believe the agreement should not be delayed any longer.”
He also added that no agreement can ever be perfect and flawless, but the conditions are presently suitable to reach a “good agreement.”
