GWANGJU, Jul. 09 (MNA) – Iranian shooter Najmeh Khedmati collected a bronze in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team competitions today to improve Iran’s medal tally to eight at 28th Universiade sports event.

On Thursday, the 19-year-old 2014 Asian Games gold medalist Najmeh Khedmati scored 445.1 in the final round of women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team competitions and managed to claim a bronze medal.

Khedmati competed with seven other shooters from Serbia, France, Romania, Russia and China (with three shooters), with Romania and Russia claiming the gold and silver medals respectively.

Khedmati had already grabbed a gold medal on Sunday in the P2 (women’s 10m Air Pistol).

Another Iranian female shooter, Mahlagha Jambozorg, also snatched a gold medal on Tuesday after earning 623.5 points at the women’s 50m prone shooting competitions.

The 2015 Summer Universiade, which marks the 28th edition of the sports event, opened in the city of Gwangju on July 3, and will run until July 14.

So far, Iran’s sports teams have collected eight medals (two gold, two silver, four bronze) at the 28th Summer Universiade and Khedmati’s bronze medal counts as the sixth medal for the shooting squad.
