TEHRAN, Jul. 07 (MNA) – Iran’s national mathematics team has departed for Thailand to participate at the 56th round of the International Mathematical Olympiad.

The Iranian mathematics team comprises Farid Ekbatani, Amin Behjati, Ali Daei-Nabi, Aria Helavati, Ali Sayyadi and Mojtaba Zareh-Bidaki.

Dr. Erfan Salavati, Dr. Kasra Alishahi, Dr. Morteza Saghafian and Rouhollah Mahkam are accompanying the team as supervisors and scientific observers.

The 56th International Mathematical Olympiad will be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from 4 to 16 July 2015. 

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for high school students and is held annually in a different country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating. Nowadays, there are over 100 countries participating from 5 continents.

In IMO 2014, Iran claimed 4 silver and 2 bronze medals.
