The public relations office of Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization in Kermanshah Province quoted Ali Felegari who reported the rescue archaeology in the surroundings of Darian dam in Paveh county of Kermanshah Province were conducted under Dr. Sonia Shidrang from Bordeaux University and the findings suggest the history of human life in the region dating back to more than 40,000 years ago.
He also added that the underway excavations are completed in the first place and the team is getting ready to start with a shelter cave near Hajeej village.
Prior to these findings, the oldest antiques found in the region belonged to Assyrian period from circa 1250 BC to 612 BC, Hadi Sharifi the Head of Paveh County’s Office of Cultural Heritage Organization commented on the new discoveries.
Located between the provinces of Kurdistan and Kermanshah in western Iran, Hawraman is a mountainous region which includes the cities of Paveh and Marivan.
