TEHRAN, April 4 (MNA) — Although in the past, due attention has been paid to the improvement of the internal structure of the banking system in Iran, positive measures are to be taken in this regard in the course of the Fourth Five-year Development Plan, noted Monday managing director of Bank Sepah Mahmud Khavari.

Khavari who was commenting on the history of banking in Iran added that, as a result of the mismanagements and due to its responsibility for safeguarding people’s deposits during the time of the Islamic Revolution, Iranian banks have turned into national banks.

He also asserted that the banks have been assigned the tasks of serving people and working as economic institutions that should not only fulfill the social and administrative duties delegated to them by the government, but should also accomplish their own mission statements.
