Hassan Rokni noted that Turkey and China are the main target countries for Iranian honey exports, and some European countries are indirect costumers of Iranian honey.
According to him, production of honey in the country reached 75,000 tons this year, adding “about 5,000 tons of honey was exported last year to a wide range of countries.”
He also deemed Persian Gulf littoral states, Turkey, china, Malaysia, India and Afghanistan as the main customers for Iran’s honey.
Mashallah Jamshidi, the head of Beekeeping and Crossbreeding Office of Agriculture Ministry, also said Iran exported more than 5,000 tons of honey in the last year, putting the value of the export at $28 million.
He also said that Iranian bees are exported to countries including Lebanon, Libya, Syria and Iraq.
The quality of Iran's honey is unique in the world due to its diverse climate, variety of flowers, and the fact that it has four seasons at any given time of the year.
