TEHRAN, Jun. 14 (MNA) – Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak-Aein announced that Iran and Azerbaijan consider establishing a joint bank in Tehran in the near future.

Since Iran and Azerbaijan are neighbors, Pak-Aein said, we have considered the solutions to solve banking issues.

He referred to the solutions as using national currency and the other as barter. “We can export foodstuff, agricultural products, nuts and construction material,” he said.

Pointing to Iran’s support for boosting economic cooperation with all countries, Iranian diplomat said Iran-Azerbaijan non-oil economic exchanges sum to $500 million which are expected to surpass $2 billion if tourism and other profitable centers are added.

Tehran has in recent years focused seriously on development of ties with neighboring countries, including Republic of Azerbaijan which enjoys various commonalities with Iran in religious, historical and cultural terms.
