TEHRAN, Jun. 08 (MNA) – Deputy of AEOI Behrouz Kamalvandi says the Additional Protocol cannot grant IAEA inspectors general, unlimited access so that they could visit any site in Iran at any time of their own choosing.

Deputy of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi made the remark in an interview with Al-Alam News Network on Sunday.

Noting that while the Additional Protocol also includes the inspection of non-nuclear sites, Kamalvandi stressed there is no reference to military sites and that Iran would not agree to a general access to the country’s sites under the Additional Protocol.

He further maintained that the IAEA Safeguards or the Protocol do not include the permission of questioning nuclear scientists, either.

“Even in case of verification of information on possible nuclear activities, the IAEA is only permitted to access the site. It is a false assumption that the Agency is allowed to question the scientists one by one," he said.

Kamalvandi further reiterated that the Islamic Republic would deny access to nuclear sites if the presented documents by the IAEA are forged. “Iran agrees to be transparent over its nuclear program but will not accept to be placed in a never-ending process of baseless accusations,” he said.
