In a phone conversation with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the UN envoy Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed voiced his optimism about the success of a political solution to settle the crisis in the impoverished Arab country.
UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon has stepped up his efforts to end attacks on the verge of the holy month of Ramadan, he said while pointing to the intra-Yemeni negotiations to be held on June 14 in Geneva.
Iranian diplomat strongly slammed Saudi regime's continued aggression against Yemeni civilians and called for an immediate end to the attacks and expressed his gratitude to the UN envoy for his efforts.
Pointing to Iran's four-point peace plan which proposes intra-Yemeni dialog with no foreign intervention, Amir-Abdollahian called for serious UN measures to avoid such aggressive attacks in the modern world.
