TEHRAN, May 10 (MNA) – Managing Director of Oil Terminals Company announced that Iranian crude oil export through Kharg Island has hit 20%.

Managing Director of Iranian Oil Terminals Company Seyyed Piruz Mousavi said on Saturday that operational capacity of Kharg Island for exporting Iranian crude oil has increased 20 percent, IRNA reported.

Mousavi said the export capacity increase is due to the inauguration of four new oil reserve containers with capacity of one million barrels each, which was held last week through a video-conference by Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh.

Using the new crude oil containers, he said the country's reserve capacity in Kharg Island increased from 23 million to 27 million barrels.

“The completion and putting to use the containers increased Iran's reserving capacity, and provided a noticeable privilege for the country in international transactions with the foreign clients,” he added.

“Iran has currently 36 crude oil containers in Kharg Island with capacities ranging from 250,000 barrels to one million,” Mousavi said, noting that 60% of them are of the latter type.

Iran's Kharg Island is located at a 75 kilometer distance to the North of Bushehr City and 95% of the country's crude oil exports are managed through its oil terminals.
