TEHRAN, May 05 (MNA) – The secretary of Eastern Breeze International Film Festival has announced premiering of 7 Sides of A Cylinder in Toronto, Canada.

Pouyan Tabatabaei told reporters on Tuesday that Mostafa Kherqepoush was a member of the jury; “the 2nd Eastern Breeze International Film Festival received 540 movies from around the world in three sections of Narrative, Documentary and Animation (short and mid-length); 48 movies were selected from 32 countries to be displayed during 3 days of the Festival in Tornoto’s Carlton Cinema.

12 Iranian movies are in the festival; Mohammad Ali Yazdanparast’s ‘All I Have,'  Golnaz Moghaddam’s ‘Dream,’ ‘The Fan’ by Fatemeh Sohani,  Abbas Davoudi's ‘That Morning,’ ‘Blue-eyed Boy’ by Amir Masoud Soheil, Hossein Shaeri's  ‘VideoTape,’ Sare Shafipour’s ‘The Tree,’ ‘Death of Jamshid Navaee’  by Amirali Navaee, which depicts his own father’s death, ‘Ladies Men’ by Fahimeh Sharafi, Elshan, Asadi’s ‘A Portrait,’ and  Maryam Katanforoush’s ‘Refill-Free’ will compete in the Festival.

Among the most interesting movies is Haleh Anvari’s ‘7 Sides of a Cylinder,’ which is a multi-vocal film that addresses the importance of the Cyrus Cylinder and it’s first-ever tour of the United States through the eyes of seven young Iranian and Iranian-American filmmakers.

Straddling historical and cultural spaces, each filmmaker examines the Cylinder’s significance to the construction of Iranian identity across three continents. This experimental film is comprised of 7 short, contemplative films made by filmmakers along the route of the historic tour of the United States in Washington DC, Houston, New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles with the addition of London the physical home of the cylinder and Tehran where its historical significance resonates most strongly.

Every part of the movie has been directed by an Iranian director; London/ The Keeper/ Hamidreza Ahmadi; Washington DC/ Perpetuating a Legend? / Narges Bajoghli; Houston/ The Mightiest /Maryam Kashani; NYC/ The Beholder, Sara Khaki; San Francisco/ Us In Pieces; Aggie Ebrahimi Bazaz; Los Angeles/ O, Cyrus!, Arash Saedinia, and Tehran/ Antihero’s Requiem, Amirali Navaee.
