TEHRAN, Apr. 26 (MNA) – Iran's Leader said police is the symbol of sovereignty and security of Iran, stressing that its power does not mean tyranny and unrestrained behavior.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, receiving Law Enforcement Force of Islamic Republic of Iran commanders and directors, described police as representation of Iran’s security and sovereignty.

Emphasizing on the establishing of individual, social, moral, spiritual and mental security in society as the most important responsibility of the police, the Leader said “establishing security needs power, however the power has to be accompanied by justice and compassion.”

He also stated that providing mental security is a priority for law enforcement forces and the police should not consider any limitations in this regard.

Ayat. Khamenei asserted that police authority and power has to go along with sympathy, otherwise it would lead to insecurity.

Describing US police behavior with African Americans as an example of brutal authority, the Leader said Africans Americans are mistreated by US police brutality feeling ignored and demeaned, and the confrontation has led to uprisings.

He urged the forces to act on the basis of law while well-behaving the people and described the issue of high importance due to the vast arena of interaction between society and the police forces.

Given the importance of multilateral promotion and development of police including scientific field and innovations, Ayat. Khamenei called on cooperation of different parts of the government with law enforcement forces.
