TEHRAN, Apr. 26 (MNA) – Secretary General of Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran offered his condolences to the Nepali people for a deadly earthquake which has killed thousands of people so far.

In a message to his Nepalese counterpart, Secretary General of Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali-Asghar Ahmadi offered his condolences to the quake survivors in the country.

“I convey my deep sorrow and offer sympathy and condolences over the devastating earthquake that killed thousands and left many injured,” Dr. Ahmadi wrote in his message to Dev Ratna Dhakhwa, the secretary-general of Nepal Red Cross Society.

He also said Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to send assistance and aid to Nepal’s quake-hit regions. 

A powerful magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck near the Nepali capital Kathmandu on Saturday killing more than 1,800 people so far and flattening sections of the city’s historic center.
