TEHRAN, Feb. 14 (MNA) – Iran’s Minister of Intelligence has said their forces have destroyed a terrorist gang in southeast borders, seizing 350kg of explosives.

Hojjatoleslam Mahmoud Alavi said in a press conference on Saturday that his secret forces had destroyed a terrorist gang and had seized 350kg of explosives in two separate operations in February 5 and 11 ‘during a complicated and surveillance operations,’ in close collaboration by IRGC headquarters, police, and the local people. Mr. Alavi also said that intelligence forces had arrested a number of terrorists.

“The arrested group had reportedly been the major group behind several killings including martyrdom of a number of teachers in Baluchistan, murder of armed forces personnel and police officers, and placing roadside bombs in the region,” said the minister, “if the explosives was gone unnoticed and undiscovered, they would find it possible to perpetrate more terrorist acts, inflicting severe damage on citizens, and we are happy now that the explosives were discovered and seized and the gang were discovered and destroyed,” he asserted.

Alavi also praised tribal communities of Baluch in Saravan, Rask, and Sarbaz; “terrorists and crime gangs should know that they are facing not only our armed and intelligence forces, but also the public in the province, either Shia or Sunni, would oppose their terrorist acts,” he addressed the crime gangs. “Here, only Shia are not target of their crimes; they have killed a number of Sunni authorities, and now the public hatred toward the terrorist groups along with local people’s cooperation helped discover them,” Alavi told reporters.

He emphasized that however the terrorist groups acted inside the borders, some circles outside borders support their operation this side of the border; “we expect the neighboring countries, their security and intelligent organizations and governments to fight terrorists and their backers, since insecurity would also spread to other places should it not be controlled and restricted to specific spot,” Alavi said.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran would not allow any player or group to act against the security of its neighbors, and we keep the right for ourselves to expect neighbors to act accordingly in response,” Alavi said.

He also thanked IRGC, Iran’s police, provincial governor, judiciary officials, and tribal leaders for their cooperation in destroying several terrorist groups.
