World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) released its latest ranking of top Taekwondo athletes in four weight categories in 2014 with Iran’s Farzan Ashourzadeh Fallah standing on top due to his brilliant results in various tournaments.
According to WTF ranking, most of Iranian Taekwondo athletes climbed the list, with Farzan Ashourzadeh at the top. Ashourzadeh won gold at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix in 2014 and gaining 80 scores, he climbed 12 steps to stand on top.
In second weight, Behnam Asbaghi, gaining Olympic bronze medal at Mexico tournament, added 28.80 points to his score and consolidated his position in third place.
Mehdi Khodabakhshi, winning the silver medal in the tournament and receiving 48 scores, climbed 3 steps to stand on third place.
Based on WTF ranking, in the first weight, Hadi Mosta’an and Abolfazl Yaghoubi stood on 22nd and 32nd places with 60.10 and 45.60 scores, respectively.
In the second weight, Mohammad Bagheri-Motamed ranked 19th with 71.10 score. Masoud Hajizavvareh and Alireza Nasr ranked 18th and 25th in third weights.
In the forth weight, Sajjad Mardani stood on 7th place with 136.60 score.
According to the new rules of the Taekwondo International Federation, first six athletes of each weight category will directly get to Olympics.
