TEHRAN –- (Mehr News Agency) -- The Philippines Cultural Week opened here on Wednesday on the premises of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).

The Phinlippine's ambassador to Tehran, ICRO chairman, as well as several cultural figures participated in the inauguration ceremony.

Pointing to close relations between the two states, the ambassador said that Iran has had a major role in establishing peace and harmony in the region. “Iran and the Philippines have great in common and more efforts need to be made to strengthen the ties.”

ICRO Chairman Hojjatoleslam Mahmoud Mohammadi Araqi stressed on cultural cooperation between the two states, adding that cultural weeks help to familiarize people with other cultures and traditions.

Exhibitions of handicraft, books, and paintings are among side programs of the event.
