TEHRAN, Nov. 19 (MNA) – 9 Iranian artists are among the 94 shortlisted candidates for Nami Concours 2015’s final round of judging.

1330 artists from 71 nations have submitted their illustrations to NAMI Concours 2015, 94 of whom have been shortlisted for this exhibition’s final round of judgement. Iran with 9 candidates holds the second place together with Italy. The South Korea with 15 illustrators has the most number of candidates in this exhibition.

The list of Iranian candidates include: Melika Saeeda (A Bird that Didn’t Look Like any Bird), Yekta Jebelli (“Forough Farokhzad” Poem Book), Narges Mohammadi (Shahnameh ‘Rostam’s Death’), Ali Dalvand (Red Jackal), Reza Dalvand (‘Who Knows Mr. Pink’ and ‘The Lake’), Zahra Mohammadnejad (Magic Fountain), Ali Amekan (Solomon and Sheba), Hassan Amekan (Zal and Pheonix), and Azar Teimouri (Don’t Sing Rooster!).

Nami Concours 2015 aims to encourage artists’ creativity and contribute to the advancement of the quality of picture book illustrations. It is organized every 2 years by Nami Island, the official sponsor of IBBY Hans Christian Andersen Awards.

The awards ceremony and special exhibition will be held during Nami Island International Children’s Book Festival in 2015.

In the previous edition of NAMI Concours, Nooshin Safakhoo won the Golden Island award for her illustration ‘Shahname, and two other Iranian artists were awarded the special prize.
