TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – In a meeting with Japanese Director-General for Middle Eastern and African Affairs, Iran’s deputy FM Amir-Abdollahian stressed that any political solution to Syrian crisis must consider the country’s current state.

Iran’s deputy FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with Director-General for Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau in Japan Uemura Tsukasa on Sunday to discuss promotion of bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.

“Iran sees serious contradictions in the US and its allies’ intentions in regard to the Syrian issue and fighting terrorism, as well as ISIL in the region, and it seems they do not intend to learn from their repeated mistakes in the past,” said Amir-Abdollahian.

While pointing to different possible ways to overcome the Syrian issue, he said, “resolving the Syrian crisis is only possible through assuming a real and serious fighting stance against terrorism, sending international humanitarian aid, making endeavors to help misplaced citizens settle back into their country, and respecting the people’s decisions and the territorial integrity of Syria.”

He pointed to the importance of empowering Iraq’s government and army against ISIL, and stressed the continuation of consultations between Iran and Japan in regard to issues in the region.

Uemura Tsukasa, for his part, deemed the instability in the Middle East a threat to the whole international community and said, “the regional countries in crisis must be aided against instability and insecurity. Japan will attempt to consult with Iran in order to find appropriate solutions to end regional conflicts.”

Uemura Tsukasa also maintained that Japan will send humanitarian aid to Syria and Lebanon and underlined the need for strengthening of Iraqi central government and army against ISIL.
