TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) – Iran and Pakistan’s ministers of economic affairs have discussed bilateral economic relations on the sidelines of 2014-Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank.

Both ministers agreed to hold Iran and Pakistan 19th joint economic commission, which would focus upon gas pipeline and electricity exports to Pakistan.

According to Pakistani minister, gas pipeline was on progress in Pakistan’s soil and would soon connect to pipeline in Iranian side.

Ministers of economic affairs are responsible to organize joint commissions. Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Minister of Finance conveyed to Ali Tayyebnia, Iran’s minister of economic affairs especial regards by Nawaz Sharif, the country’s prime minister for President Hassan Rouhani and Iran’s Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. “Pakistan has passed a bill to construct a 700km gas pipeline connecting Gwadar to Navabshah, with different financing scenarios to support the plan,” said Pakistani minister.

Iranian counterpart Ali Tayyebnia welcomed Pakistan’s resolve to complete the pipeline, and expressed hopes that longer pipelines would be established between two countries. He also praised Pakistani government's will to extend relations with Iran.
