Mohammad Javad Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Romania’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Carmen Burlaco in Tehran.
In the meeting, Zarif said that there are a lot of opportunities in economic and commercial fields for Iran and Romania to expand ties.
He pointed to the increasing pace of extremism in the Middle East especially in Iraq and Syria and reiterated that this is a danger for not only the Middle East but also the whole world and added that terrorism and extremism has no border so it can threaten security in Europe and the whole world.
Zarif further said that Iranian President Rouhani’s offer, World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE), to the UN can be the basis for cooperation and international activities to fight against violence and extremism.
Carmen Burlaco for her part pointed to the recent developments in the Middle East, Iraq, Syria and Palestine in particular, and reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays an important role in reaching a solution to regional problems.
She also called for expansion of bilateral ties between the two countries in different fields and levels.
