TEHRAN, May 31 (MNA) – The head of German Bundestag Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy has said Germany is willing to expand ties with Iran.

Parliament’s Office of News and Media reported that Dr. Peter Ramsauer had visited Gholamreza Mesbahi Moqaddam, the head of Iran’s Head of the Planning and Budget Parliamentary Commission

Ramsauer dubbed Iran as an important country in the region and the world. “Boosting friendly ties with Iran could bring prosperity for both countries’ economies,” he added.

Mesbahi Moqaddam pointed to the history of positive relations between the two countries. “In the collective memory of the Iranians there is no place for a concept of colonialist power about Germany,” he said.

He also called for developing friendly ties between Iran and Germany especially between parliaments. “Improved Parliamentary ties contribute much to the expansion of ties in issues of interests between Iran and Germany,” he asserted.

Mesbahi Moqaddam believed the current level of trade between Iran and Germany was insufficient. “Iran and Germany enjoy higher potentials which should be exploited for more cooperation,” he said, making also passing hints to the Iran and Powers nuclear negotiations. “Dialogue is crucial in reaching an understanding of the issues and a final agreement,” he added.

Mesbahi Moqaddam heads a Parliamentary delegation of representatives of religions to the Conference on Religion, Faith and Values, including Siamak Mareh Sedgh, Jonathan Betkolia, and Karen Khanlari.
