TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani has said development would lag behind without development in health sector.

President Rouhani, who was speaking in the Public Health Insurance seminar, told that the health and insurance were very important issues. “According to 20-Year Vision Plan, we should achieve 8 per cent of annual growth in health sector provisioned for 20 years,” Rouhani told the meeting.

However Rouhani said that in the first half of the Vision Plan Iran had not been in a favorable situation in terms of growth, with only 4.5 per cent growth in early years. “In later years, the conditions improved; last year we experienced a growth rate however, in 2014, we hope a positive growth rate for health sector with public’s cooperation and support,” he said.

Rouhani called the nation to ask why the country lagged behind in terms of development. “If the question is a national one, we could expect to be better position,” the president said.

Rouhani also mentioned the historic event of Khorramshahr liberation, believing that the event could not be adopted by any party; “only the nation is credited with the event,” he asserted.

He believed that for attaining development, the society should be developed in health sector. “Health expenses are not costs, as expenses in education are not costs; human is the pivot of the development,” he said.
