ILAM, May 7 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani is in Illam as his 4th provincial visit; says he hopes trip brings boom to the province.

Rouhani was welcomed by the Leader’s Hojjatoleslam Mohammad Naqi Lotfi representative in Ilam, Mohammad Reza Morvarid Ilam provincial governor and some other provincial officials.

Bijan Namdar Zanganeh the oil minister, Seyyed Mohammad Alavi the intelligence minister, Mohammad Baqer Nobakht the speakesman of the cabinet, Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh the industry minister, Mahmoud Hojjati the agriculture minister and Abbas Akhoundi the minister of road and urben development in addition to some other members of the 11th cabinet accompany him in the trip.

Hassan Rouhani told reporters upon arrival in Ilam airport that “God willing, people will notice the positive gradual changes in different aspects of their lives,” and that “I am pleased to visit a province which had demonstrated its glory and greatness during the Imposed War (1980-1988). During history, people of the region had been true defenders of Iranian borders.”

“During the war, local people in Ilam conceded even an inch of their territory and stood valiantly against the ferocious enemy and defended this great land,” Rouhani told the reporters in airport.

Rouhani also provided a short agenda in the cabinet’s session in Ilam. “Apart from industrial and agricultural plans to be discussed for Ilam, I will also be ready to listen to the pains, concerns, and important issues of the urgency voiced by Ilam’s elites and layman as well,” he added.

“All these plans projected to be operating by the next year and future years will be discussed in the cabinet sessions, “president said.  

President will also meet the public in Ilam’s Takhti Stadium in early hours of today. Among his agenda are visits to a meeting of Ilam’s elites, some projects underway in the province, and Imposed War veterans.

He also will attend a conference, Investment and Development held by provincial council in a-day trip to Ilam.

Illam is the westernmost province, with an area of 20,000 square kilometers and population of 565,000.

This is the government’s fourth provincial visit. Before, the cabinet had visited Khuzestan, Hormozgan, and Sistan and Baluchistan, all border provinces.
