Iran’s parliament speaker Ali Larijani and the co-chairman of Iran-Italy parliamentary friendship group, Senator Ettore Rosato, met in Tehran Sunday evening and discussed bilateral issues.
Larijani made hints to long and friendly relations between the two countries and said that Iran and Italy always had good and vast commercial, economic and political relations. He maintained that friendly relations between the parliaments of the two countries would help expand bilateral cooperation.
Larijani hailed Italy’s role in the region and held that Iran seeks further cooperation with Italy on issues which meet both sides’ interests.
He asserted that regarding geographical and climate conditions, Iran needs peaceful nuclear energy to meet its demands and launching nuclear plants in the country were to meet the demands.
Larijani emphasized that Iran never seeks nuclear weapons and considers weapons of mass destruction as threat of security in the region and the whole world.
Rosato in the meeting said that Italy’s parliament and government are ready for expansion of bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and added that via dialog and ideas interchange both countries’ parliaments and cabinets should find ways to improve cooperation.
During the last few months Islamic Republic of Iran has received a number of parliamentarians from several countries.
