TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (MNA) – The head of Gachsaran Environment Department has said 12th panther now has died within a year.

Abdollah Dianati told reporters that they had found no clue as to death of the panther, but that “the corpse had been burned by unknown people.”

The panther was found dead in Charzoo, a county of Gachsaran in Kohkiloyeh and Boyerahmad southwestern province in the vicinity of the place where a panther cub was killed by a car early this month.

The head of Environment Department told that the panther corpse had been found outside the protected area of Kooh Dil, totally burned. “When our guards went to the place to examine the body, they noticed the body had been burned by unknown people,” he added, “since the body was totally burned, we found no details which would help determine the gender of the panther.”

Investigations are underway on the reasons behind the death of the panther, but there had been no clue found as to the possible causes of the death. There is speculation that the panther would be the mother of the cub killed in a car accident. Any definitive verdict hinges upon the further investigations.

A local cameraman took pictures of the dead panther and sent the pictures to Environment Department guards of Gachsaran.
