TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (MNA) – A member of Iranian delegation to Russia has said FM meetings in regional tour focused on fighting terrorism, sectarianism, and violence.

Mohammad Hassan Asafari, a member of Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission who is a member of foreign ministry delegation in the regional tour said Zarf’s meeting in Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Russia focused upon fighting terrorism, sectarianism, violence, and Syrian crisis.

In an interview to Mehr News, Asafari detailed on the FM and his delegation visits in the regional tour. He told that Nouri al-Maliki complained about the US position on the issue of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s participation in Geneva-2 conference on Syria. “Maliki has appointed Mr. Zebari as special mission to address the issue of Iran’s invitation to Geneva-2 conference on Syrian crisis,” he added.

“Mr. Lavrov would also address the issue. We believe that if the Syrian crisis is to be solved, countries should participate in the conference that seek really to solve the crisis by Syrian people themselves, and participation of countries supporting supply of weapons and fighters to the country would not contribute much to the solving the crisis,” said Asafari, “S-300 was another topic for discussion between Zarif and Putin. We emphasized that the issue of Moscow’s delivering the missiles to Iran should be addressed.”

Russia had signed an agreement with Iran to deliver S-300 missiles to Tehran. Asafari believed that Russia should deliver the missiles and the damages accruing upon the delay in delivery of missiles as soon as possible.
