TEHRAN, Dec. 24 (MNA) – A Parliament National Security and Foreign Commission member has said Foreign and Intelligence ministries are responsible for EU delegation antics.

Mehdi Davatgari told Mehr News Parliament correspondent the EU parliamentary delegation visited Tehran on an invitation by Kazem Jalali.

“The visit was in line with parliamentary exchanges, and there were special sensitivities over the visit,” he added. “They came to Iran in response to a visit by Iran’s parliamentarians to the EU,” he said.

“Their visit had been cancelled several times, but ultimately, their visit faced with an agreement by Parliament,” said Davatgari. On the EU parliamentary delegation’s visit to Jafar Panahi and Nasrin Sotoudeh in Greece’s embassy, he asked rhetorically that how they met and awarded Panahi and Sotoudeh with Sakharov Prize, “while the story was released outside the country.”

He believed that the event was an outcome of the poor performance by intelligence system. “Foreign and intelligence ministries should be taken accountable for the EU parliamentary delegation meeting in the Greece’s embassy,” he emphasized.
