In line with great maritime tradition and to further strengthen the existing warm and cordial relations, a Pakistan Navy Mission comprising Pakistan Navy Ships TIPPU SULTAN and PNS JURRAT will call port at Bandar Abbas on the morning of 12 March 2017 for duration of 3 days. The Pakistani Task Force is commanded by the Commander 18th Destroyer Squadron, Commodore Mirza Foad Amin Baig whereas Pakistan Navy Ship TIPPU SULTAN is commanded by Captain Shafqat and JURRAT is commanded by Lt Cdr Alamgir.
Historically, the two countries enjoy cordial relations since independence as Iran was the first Muslim country to recognize Pakistan and Pakistan was the first country to recognize the Islamic Republic of Iran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The two countries are founding members of ECO and OIC and actively co-operate on International and regional forums. The defense relations between the two countries are also age old.
Pakistan Navy’s visit to Bandar Abbas will enable to enrich from the mutual experiences and bring sincere wishes and prayers for peace and prosperity for the people of Iran and look forward for enhanced co-operation in future endeavors.
A 16-member delegation from PN War College visited Tehran from 6 to 10 Mar 17. The delegation was led by Rear Admiral Mohammed Moazzam Ilyas HI (M) who is the commandant of the college. The delegation during its stay called on senior Iranian military leadership and visited military establishments. Besides, they also visited sites of cultural and historical importance.
The visit afforded delegation better understanding of the Iranian political and defense setups besides an opportunity to interact with the Iranian authorities. The visit was hosted by DAFOOS with traditional Iranian hospitality. After the visit, the members of the delegation expressed their satisfaction on the fulfilment of their core purpose.
Such visits enable both countries to forge ahead their relations, especially in defense matters and are essential for future leaders to understand each other. This time the delegation also included officers from Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Pakistan and Iran are two brotherly countries who have maintained close relations throughout the history. The defense relations between both the countries are also in line with their historical bondage. The visit of Pakistan Navy War College delegation was part of curriculum. Last time such a visit was undertaken in year 2014 which was also a very beneficial visit.
