TEHRAN, Oct. 02 (MNA) –Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif who is visiting Omani capital city of Muscat told the media, before his meeting with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos, that Iran and Oman are enjoying good banking relations.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Oman are having very special ties in political areas,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday in Muscat. He made the remarks in an interview before meeting Oman’s Sultan Qaboos.  “We are having very good and developed relations in terms of regional talks, necessary consultations on regional security, and bilateral relations in areas of economy, transit, and energy.”

“In my short regional tour to Oman and Qatar we will discuss regional issues and regional crises,” recounted the Iranian official. “In the upcoming meeting with Sultan Qaboos, that will start within the next minutes, the same things.”

The Iranian top diplomat referred to the gas pipe conveying Iran’s energy to Oman and banking relations as the two common areas of mutual interests to be discussed in the coming meetings.

“Meanwhile, talks over traveling between the two countries, health tourism, pilgrimage tourism, and other areas of tourism have been thoroughly conferred on in previous meetings with Omani officials,” delineated the top diplomat.

“The Omanis almost share the same position with Iran in regard to referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan,” asserted the Iranian diplomat after being asked about the position of Oman to referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan. “The same convergence of positions can be seen at the international level and we almost find no country backing the referendum in Kurdistan.”

“The stance of Omanis in terms of the north of Iraq is similar to the stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran with stress on territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and unity in Iraq,” highlighted Mr. Zarif.
