S Arabia main perpetrator of terrorist operations in Iran

TEHRAN, Jun. 20 (MNA) – Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Saudi Arabia is the main perpetrator in carrying out terrorist operations in Iran.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan on Tuesday.

Pointing to the close relations between the two countries, Amir-Abdollahian said Iran and Russia as two powerful countries play an important role in consolidating and strengthening security and peace in the region and the world.

"Consultations and talks are underway at all political and parliamentary levels between the two countries, and have led to greater cooperation in important regional and international issues," he noted.

Expressing gratitude to Russian senior authorities and parliament speaker for condemnation of the terrorist attacks in Tehran, Amir-Abdollahian said US and Saudi Arabia will not be able to pursue their mischievous aims in supporting terrorists in Iran, adding Saudi Arabia is the main one accused in plotting terrorist operations in Iran.

Referring to the need for a political settlement of regional crises, he added, "we are following the developments in Bahrain and seriously emphasize protecting the dignity of Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Qassim and stopping the pressure and limitation against the leading Shia cleric of Muslims.

Touching upon the crisهs in Yemen, he regretted that the humanitarian situation in Yemen is disastrous and the continuation of Saudi military attacks, the human siege and the cholera crisis require serious attention from the international community.

Saudi Arabia will not be able to put an end to the Yemeni crisis by continuing military strikes, he said, adding Yemen and Bahrain need merely political solutions and realistic negotiations.

Dzhagaryan, for his part, expressed regret and condolences over the tragic terrorist attacks in Tehran, describing it a demonstration of repulsion, filthiness and inability of terrorists and their sponsors.

"Russia stands in the same position with the Islamic Republic in the fight against terrorism," Russian ambassador said.

He further added that the two countries' determination to fight terrorism is serious and irreversible.

"Russia closely monitors the situation in the region and tries with its allies to restore security and peace," Dzhagaryan added.

He expressed his satisfaction with the growing political and parliamentary ties and consultations on regional and international issues.

The two sides expressed their views on US intensification of the sanctions against the Islamic Republic and the Russian Federation.
