Israel disarmament a demand by all nations: minister

TEHRAN, May 5 (MNA) – Iran’s Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan has headed a high ranking delegation of IRGC and Defense Ministry officials to China.

The Iranian delegation, invited by Chinese Minister of Defense General Chang Wanquan, arrived in China Sunday night and was welcomed by the Chinese officials at the airport.

Mehr News quoted Defense Ministry’s official website that Iran’s Defense Minister and the Iranian delegation discussed bilateral issues with the Chinese defense minister General Chang Wanquan after arrival in China.

Iran’s Dehqan made hints to long-lasting relations of the two countries in cultural, economic, political and industrial fields. He also mentioned Silk Road which starts from China as a historical symbol of Iran-China’s long lasting relations.

He added that in the 21st century regarding security issues “we need new Silk Road which can meet the new requirements of the age.”

“President Rouhani’s upcoming visit to China to expand the relations between the two countries was an indication that both side intend to have close ties,” Dehqan added.

He maintained that terrorism and extremism were two main challenges of the today’s world and added that Dr Rouhani’s proposal WAVE – World Against violence and Extremism – clearly indicated that WMD-Free Middle East was an Islamic Republic of Iran’s goal. “The disarmament of such warmonger a regime as Zionist regime is a demand by all nations in the region which should set a priority to international organizations,” he told his Chinese hosts.

General Chang Wanquan dubbed Iranian military forces as allies to the Chinese forces and shared common views on important political issues and international and regional security issues, and “Beijing considers Iran as its strategic associate,” he added.

He denounced double-standards of some countries and emphasized on fighting terrorism and extremism.
